ANNO1777 is an online game that simulates an economic political and military system, like the real world. You are a citizen of the seventeenth century who fights on all levels to advance the social hierarchy. You can open businesses, become governor or you can build a military empire. Everything is up to you. Unlike other games of this type, the virtual money from ANNO1777 can be exchanged for real money and vice versa. Economy
The economy from ANNO1777 is very much like a real market economy. There are companies, shares, shareholders, stocks of raw materials and products, companies turn to advertising in order to increase sales and of course everyone relies on very good employees which pay accordingly. Markets are 100% free and the price depends on supply and demand. Everything is related to the player\'s activity. There are no companies which operate by themselves, and the employees are of course chosen between the players. All products from weapons to banking services are manufactured / supplied by companies owned and established by the players. In other words, it takes you to do that. You can continue to work at your job or you can start from only one company and in the end, have a holding consisting of dozens of companies. You will be the only one who establishes these limits. Banking & Finance
If you do not know yet, we will tell you a secret. A strong economy cannot exist without a strong financial system. In any market economy, finances are the backbone. When we say finances, we mean stock exchange, banks and insurance. ANNO1777 economy also has a financial system and as you might have suspected, the system is run 100% by players. When founding a company, 1,000 shares are issued, of which 900 are the owner\'s. The shares can then be traded on a free market. And if when you were little, you dreamt of becoming a banker, and have not succeeded yet, now you can do it because in ANNO1777 anyone can open a bank. Banks offer loans and attract money by deposits or current accounts. Banks collect fees for the operations undertaken, and the interest, along with the rest of charges are set free by the owners. The Press
Without a free press, any social system would sooner or later transform into a dictatorship. And that\'s exactly what we\'re trying to avoid in ANNO1777. Therefore we designed the press system based on the idea that anyone can freely express their opinion even if that opinion seems a little strange to others. And to give you some details, anyone can open a newspaper, which is nothing but a subtype of a company. In that newspaper you can publish articles on any topic you wish. And when we say \'any topic\' we mean any article which does not violate any applicable law. In other words, hard language or pornography are permitted in any form as long as they do not violate any law in force in the real world, in the country where you live. Newspapers are companies and companies exist to make profit. Besides the revenues from the actual sales of newspapers, a publishing house earns also from advertising. And to make things more interesting, there are subscribers and subscriptions. If the war irritates you, and the economy and finances may seem boring, maybe writing articles will make you famous. War & Slaves
In ANNO1777, war is present in all levels. Without the war, the consumption and production would not be stimulated, and the reason why you work and improve your overall health would not be so clearly defined. The war has two forms in the game. There is one war between players, where anyone can attack anyone, which ends with the capture of slaves, and a war between nations that ends with loss of regions. Every time you attack a player and you win, that player becomes your slave, and from that moment on, he will pay you taxes from all eligible cashing he has. The system was designed so that no one will be free. All players are slaves / owners of another player. The slaves are the most important source of income. They can also be bought and sold for gold. Politics & Elections
Politics is dirty. This is a line you hear everywhere. And neither politics, nor politicians from ANNO1777 will be otherwise. It brings you money, it gives you the strength that you dreamed of, and your decisions can influence thousands of players. Let\'s discuss some details. First, you should remember that in ANNO177 the players are placed in areas with a structure similar to the one from the real life. In other words, there are countries and regions with the same names as those found in the geographic atlas from school. When a player enters the game from real Austria, he will be placed in a virtual Austria, in a random region, and he can later move from there. Every month, in every country, elections are organized. Anyone can run for a position by filing a government program. Anyone can vote. The first candidate who has the highest number of votes becomes the president of the country. The following 20 candidates become governors. The Government decides everything, starting with the prize you\'ll get in fights, up to the VAT on virtual products. It may start wars, it may change taxes and it may offer dazzling prizes. Also it can transfer amounts from budgets to organizations and from there to anyone. Private Territories
Politicians from your country annoy you? Do you feel that they steal and do not care about you? In real life this could be a difficult problem to solve. But in ANNO1777 you can buy your own country which you can run by your own rules. Private territories are countries led by one single man. They have their own currency, local taxes and the government is appointed by the owner. Private territories have a correspondent in the real world, under the form of private islands (Maldive, Bahamas, etc. ....). Basically we have selected dozens of private islands from the real world and we introduced them in ANNO1777 under the form of Private Territories. Initially, these lands are purchased from the game but can subsequently be traded on a free market. In your island you always have the last word. Nobody can tell you what to do. You can set up your fees and taxes, or you can expel citizens, or censor the press if you don\'t like what you\'re seeing. All strength is concentrated in the hands of one man. You think it\'s too hard? You can form a government to take over some tasks. Of course the government is also appointed by you, and therefore the lack of discipline can be immediately punished. How do you make money? It\'s simple. You can always withdraw money from the state budget, which is practically yours. In any developed economy, the services are very well thought out and represent the engine of economic growth. There are thousands of services in the real world. We have selected only five types of companies to be implemented in the game, i.e. Organizations, Trading Companies, Lotteries, Bookmakers and Advertising Agencies. The organizations are extremely flexible and can be political parties, military units or anything else. Trading Companies can store any type of product and are the ideal support for those who want to buy goods from one place and sell them overseas at a double price. Advertising
Advertising is the soul of commerce. Everyone knows it. Without a serious advertising campaign no company would surpass the starting point. Since the rule is valid in the real world, it must be created in the virtual one too, i.e. in ANNO1777. There are three ways to make advertising and each one has different costs and impacts. The most strengthful one is advertising directly on the site. On every page of the game, on the right side there is a column with ads posted by the players. It is the method with the greatest impact, and the price reflects that. The second method by which you can make yourself known is by purchasing advertising in the pages of game magazines. At the end of each article, there are two advertising spaces that belong to magazine. You can buy these spaces for a predefined number of displays. The cheapest method is the players\' signatures. But what is a signature? In short, every time you post a comment, at the bottom of the page you will see a text line with a link. Both the text and the link may be defined by you. Since everything is for sale, you can assign someone else to use the signature. In exchange for an amount of money, the one who buys your signature can define his own text and link. The mechanisms of the game

Before starting talking about economics or finance, let\'s review the mechanisms of the game. You will find here answers to questions like Why do I have to consume products? or Why do I have a lower salary than other players?. Each player has five indicators that characterize its status at a certain point in time. These are strength, the economic score, military score, attack points and defense points. By far, the most important indicator is strength. Based on it, you can calculate how productive you are at work, how much force you have in a confrontation, as well as the taxes you take from slaves. Remember that when you attack a player and he loses the confrontation, he automatically becomes your slave. Since then he will pay you a tax from all revenues he has. Slaves are one of the most important sources of income in the game. Not only do you get a tax from them but I can sell or buy them on a free market. The taxes you take from slaves are calculated depending on the strength. Therefore, in order to better understand the mechanisms of the game and the importance of the five indicators, we will further talk about each one\'s role:

Strength

Strength is by far the most important indicator. You can find its value in the left corner of each page. Based on it, total attack, total defense, productivity and taxes taken from slaves are calculated. Strength increases upon consumption of certain products and decreases daily depending on activity. We will list below when your strength increases and decreases. Remember that strength is updated hourly.

Strength increases when


* Consuming food. Food has 5 quality degrees and is the fastest way to increase your strength. Depending on its quality, your strength increases with a certain value (1 star - 1 point, 2 stars - 2 points, etc.). You can eat once at 6 hours. To eat go to page Goods / Food.

* Drinking wine. The wine does not have a quality degree but as time passes it automatically increases its value and the strength received increases. A new bottle of wine offers 1 point of strength. If wine is not sold, the strength offered by a glass increases each day with 0.4 points per day. After 150 days, a bottle of wine matures and no longer increases its value, in other words a glass of wine can give you a maximum gain of 60 strength points. You can drink maximum one bottle every 24 hours. To drink wine, go to page Goods / Wine.

* You\'re dressed. Each garment offers you a certain level of strength per day. There are 10 types of garments (underwear, socks, gloves, hat, shirt, boots, pants, jacket, coat and cape). Each garment has five quality degrees. Depending on the level of quality you will get a certain number of strength points and that particular garment lasts longer. Remember that clothes are degradable, which means that after a while they will automatically disappear from inventory. You can own a single garment of each type, at a certain time (one pair of gloves, one hat ...). To buy clothes, go to page Goods / Clothes.

* You live in a house. When you live in a house, every day you get a certain number of strength points depending on the quality of the house. Houses have 5 quality degrees. They are the only products which have unlimited life duration. One-star houses offer five strength points per day, the two-star houses, 10 points, the 3-star houses 15 points, the 4-star ones, 20 points and a five-star villa brings an increase of 25 strength points per day. If you cannot afford to buy a house you can rent it. Remember that if you move to another region, you will automatically move from the house. * Reading an article. Each time after you read an article for the first time, you receive a certain number of points depending on the quality of items. Articles have five quality degrees and unlike other products they acquire their degrees depending on the readers\' votes. You can read an unlimited number of items per day but cannot receive more than 10 strength points / day in this way. .


Strength decreases:


* Automatically every hour, by a percentage equal to Pr = P * 0.05. Even if you are not involved in any activity, your strength decreases each hour by this percentage.

* When working.. For each hour of work, strength is reduced by 1% extra. This means that after a day\'s work you automatically lose another 8% strength, to which is added the percentage that you lose automatically.

* When fighting Whether you attack or are attacked, after every fight you strength decreases by 1%.

* When travelling by foot If you choose to travel from one region to another by foot, you will lose 1% strength every 10 kilometers. Traveling with carriages or balloons does not cause loss of strength.


In other words, if you read a lot, if you are impeccably dressed, live in a palace, only eat 5-star steaks and drink the finest wine, you can receive over 100 strength points per day. If in one day you work and attack 8 times, you lose 40% strength. Maintaining strength to 100% is not exactly an easy task and in some cases is not profitable. Ideal strength differs from one player to another and is not always 100%.

Economic score and productivity

The economic score represents the work experience gained so far by a player. Every day the economic score automatically decreases by one point and after each working day, the economic score increases by 2 points. The minimum value of the score is 10 and the maximum value is 100, which means that a new player who works every day will reach the maximum score after three months. Productivity is calculated based on the economic score. The formula is Pr = (P + PE) / 2 (Pr = productivity, P = current strength, ES = economic score). For example, with a strength of 40% and an economic score of 50 points, the productivity is 45% ((50 +40) / 2). Productivity is extremely important because the wage that you receive is calculated based on productivity. Wages which business owners offer are for a worker with 100% productivity. In other words, if a company offers a wage of 20 RON / hour and you have a productivity of 20%, you will only get 4 RON / HOUR. An increased productivity provides you a high income.

Military score and duration of battles

The military score represents the military experience gained to date. Every day, the military score decreases by 0.1 points, and after each fight increases by 0.2 points. The minimum value is 0 and the maximum value is 100, which means that a beginner, after 1000 battles, reaches the maximum value of the economic score. The duration of the battle is determined based on the military score, in case you attack. The formula is 20 min - (PM% 10 min), i.e. a military score of 100% reduces your battles from 20 min to 10 min, in case you attack.

The attack points and the total attack

There are 10 types of attack weapons. Every attack weapon, depending on its quality, brings points. The sum of these points represents the attack points. Based on the attack points and on strength, the total attack is determined. The formula is AT = P% PA (strength represented as a percentage from the attack points). A battle is won comparing the attacker\'s total attack with the opponent\'s total defense. The player with the higher value wins. For example, if player A has a total attack of 34.21 and player B has a defense of 33, player A wins. Remember that you can only attack players with a lower defense or at most equal. If player A\'s attack is identical to the opponent\'s defense, the attacker, i.e. player A wins.

Defense points and total defense

There are 10 types of defense weapons. Each defense weapon, depending on its quality, brings points. The sum of these points represents the defense points. Based on the defense points and strength, the total defense is determined. The formula is AT = P% PA (strength represented as a percentage from the defense points). A battle is won by comparing the attacker\'s total attack with the opponent\'s total defense. The player with the higher value wins. For example, if player A has a total attack of 34.21 and player B has a defense of 33, player A wins. Remember that you can only attack players with a lower defense or at most equal. If player A\'s attack is identical to the opponent\'s defense, the attacker, i.e. player A wins.

Introduction

Before starting a discussion about economy, some details must be explained. A company can only manufacture a certain range of products. For example, iron companies manufacture iron, and iron companies manufacture the whole range of weapons. In order to manufacture a particular product, a company needs a production license. Production licenses are purchased initially from the game\'s funds, but can then be resold. Also a company needs means of production (instruments and tools) to produce goods. The means of production are produced by companies manufacturing instruments and tools and have a limited lifetime depending on their quality. The quality of products is divided into five levels, from one star to five stars. In other words, after setting up a company, you need to buy production licenses and means of production before starting your business activity. Except for a few types of companies that already have production licenses granted at the beginning, all companies will have to purchase them. Consider these mandatory costs required before opening a company.

Products

The products are divided into raw materials and by-products. By-products are weapons, houses, means of production, etc.. Raw materials do not have quality degrees. But a large part of by-products have different levels of quality which influence life duration and also power or productivity offered to the consumer. For example, a crossbow which has a quality of 3 can be used for a longer period of time than one with a level 1 quality, and the attack points offered are more. As mentioned before, in order to be manufactured, any product needs a license (know-how) bought by the producing company. We will review below each type of product. Raw Materials

The raw materials are iron, wood, cotton, meat, leather and grapes. As mentioned before, these products have one single quality and the manufacturing companies already have already a production license since their foundation. Each type of product is manufactured by a particular type of company and requires a certain number of working hours. Next, we will review the characteristics of raw materials.


* Iron is one of the most important raw materials, and as well as the wood, is a component of 90% of by-products. It is used by companies producing means of production, weapons, houses and means of transportation. Iron is produced by companies manufacturing iron, using specific means of production. It does not require any other raw materials but workforce. The measuring unit is the kilogram (kg).

* Wood is also widely used, being required by companies producing houses, means of transportation, weapons and means of production. It is also a component of paper, which is another basic product of the economy. Wood is produced by companies manufacturing wood, using specific means of production. It does not require any other raw materials but workforce. The measuring unit is cubic meter (CM).

* Cotton is a component of two very important products, fabric and paper. Paper is consumed by all service companies and fabric is essential for producing means of transportation and clothes. Cotton is actively used by manufacturers of fabric and paper. Cotton is produced by the companies manufacturing cotton, using specific means of production. It does not require any other raw materials but workforce. The measuring unit is kilogram ( KG ).

* The meat and leather are basic raw materials. The meat is required by restaurants and the leather is a component of many products, from clothes to means of production. Meat and leather are produced by farms, using specific means of production. . It does not require any other raw materials but workforce. For meat, the measuring unit is kilogram. To produce 1 kg of meat requires 0.5 hours of work at 100% productivity. This means that a worker with productivity of 100% will produce 2 kg of meat in one hour. For leather, the measuring unit is square meter (MP).

* Grapes are a component of wine, which is a special product because with time and without any interventions, it becomes more valuable because of its power which it brings. Grapes are produced by companies producing grapes, using specific means of production. It does not require any other raw materials but workforce. The measuring unit is kilogram ( KG ).


Finished Products

Finished products are products which include raw materials and workforce. They can be consumed by players to increase their power or by companies such as means of production. Many of the finished products have more quality degrees, and depending on their quality, they have certain features. Remember that for each quality, the manufacturing company needs a production license. The range of finished products is mentioned below.


* Weapons - Weapons are produced by companies producing weapons. There are two types of weapons. Attack weapons and defense weapons. Attack weapons are knives, bludgeons, sword, spear, mace, ax, bow, crossbow, pistol and shotgun. Attack weapons increase the attack points owned by a player. A player can have one attack weapon of each type. Defense weapons are hand guards, shoulder guards, foot guards, boots, elbow guards, helmet, head armor, body armor, shield and breastplate. The defense weapons increase the defense points owned by a player. A player can have one attack weapon of each type. Weapons have predefined life duration. For example, a knife of level 1 can be used for 10 attacks and brings a contribution of 100 to the attack points. After their life duration expires, the weapons disappear from the player\'s inventory. All weapons have since the beginning 5 quality degrees. If the quality of the weapon is higher, its life duration is extended and the amount of attack / defense points increases. A level 5 knife can be used in 50 attacks and brings an increase of 500 to the attack points. Raw materials of weapons are iron, wood and leather.

* Clothes - clothes are produced by companies producing clothes. They are worn by citizens in order to increase power. Each garment brings an increase in power each day. Just like weapons, since the beginning they have a 5 degrees quality, and the higher categories gives them strength and contribution to the increase of power. They also have limited life duration, between 5 and 30 days, depending on quality. Fabrics and leather are the components of garments. Garments are underwear, socks, gloves, hat, shirt, pants, leather boots, jacket, coat and cape. To produce a certain garment you need a separate license for each quality.

* Means of transportation - The means of transportation are carriages and hot air balloons. Carriages are used only for moving from one region to another of the same country. Balloons are used to travel fast through the country, and also to travel in other countries. The means of transport have five degrees of quality which influence their life duration and traveling speed. A level 1 carriage will travel much slower than a level 5 one and can be used for a much less number of kilometers. Note that the life duration of means of transportation is not measured in days, but in kilometers. The means of transport are manufactured by companies producing means of transportation. The components of carriages are iron, wood and leather, and the components of hot air balloons are large quantities of fabric, wood and iron. To produce means of transportation, you need a separate license for each quality.

* Houses - Houses are the only products which do not have a fixed period of validity and can be used for an unlimited period of time. They have 5 quality degrees and for each day spent in the house a player gets between 5 and 25 points, depending on the quality of the building. The houses are produced by construction companies. Building a house requires a lot of wood (between 50 and 250 CM) and iron. Also houses are high consumers of workforce. A five-level house consumes 100 working hours at 100% productivity. Houses are connected to regions and once established in a region, they CANNOT be moved. In order to move into a house in Moldova, for example, you have to be in Moldova. Unlike the means of transportation, which once purchased, can only be rented, the houses can be rented and subsequently resold.

* Means of Production - As mentioned above, every company needs raw materials, workforce and means of production (instruments and tools) to manufacture products. Workers (workforce) use tools (means of transport) to convert raw materials into finished products. Means of production have 5 degrees of quality and have a limited lifetime depending on quality. Like in other cases, to produce means of production, you need a separate license for each quality. Life duration is measured in the quantity of finished products which are delivered. For example, a machine for iron production has a life duration of 30,000 kg of iron, which means that, after it will deliver 30 000 kg of iron, the machine can no longer be used. Depending on their quality, the equipment increase productivity. A four-level machine with a 15% increase in productivity, will deliver 15% more iron with the same cost as a level one machine. The means of production are produced by companies producing tools and require iron, wood and leather as raw material.

* Food - Food is the fastest way to restore your power. You can eat once every 6 hours. Food is produced by restaurants. It has five quality degrees and it uses meat as raw material. Depending on its quality, it gives an increase in power between 1 and 5 points.

* Lottery tickets and betting - even if we included them in the same category, the two types of tickets are produced by two different companies, but they have common characteristics. They use paper as raw material, they have only one quality, and have limited life duration on the date of the event for which they were purchased. For example, a lottery ticket will disappear from inventory after completion of the lottery. Tickets represent the right to participate in a certain event. Lottery tickets are produced by lotteries which use paper, workforce and tools for production of lottery tickets. You can buy up to 100 lottery tickets for one lottery in order to increase your chances. Betting tickets are produced by bookmakers, also using paper, workforce and tools. You can hold multiple tickets per bet.

* Wine - Each bottle of wine consumed brings an increase of power to the consumer. Wine is a particular product because it increases your ability, in time, without any other intervention. A new produced bottle gives the consumer one power point. You can drink no more than one bottle per day. After each day in which it is not consumed, the power intake of the bottle increases by 0.4 points. In other words, a bottle produced on March 1 with an initial intake to the power of one point, on March 30 it will provide 12 power points, without any other investment, and on May 30, it will bring 40 power points, i.e. like a level five house, which required 250 CM wood, 500 kg of iron and 100 hours of work. Given this, any bottle of wine at any price, will initially be on the market, sooner or later it will be sold because the price per power point will be reduced steadily until it becomes the smallest. Patience is all you need for that. Wine has only one quality and is produced by wine cellar using workforce, grapes and specific tools. Remember that wine ages during 5 months, after that the power which it offers will no longer increase.

* Bank forms - For anything that\'s got to do with money, banks use forms. There are four types of bank forms. Credit Forms, Current Account Forms, Deposit Forms and Transfer Form. For each deposit that is open at a bank, a deposit form is consumed. Similarly for each credit offered or for each open current account, the bank consumes a specific form. Transfer forms are consumed for each bank transfer made from one account to another. Banks produce forms using paper, workforce and specific tools.

* Newspapers - Newspapers are one of the most requested products. When you first read an article in a magazine, you buy a newspaper. If an article is read by 200 different players, the magazine sold 200 newspapers. Each newspaper which is bought brings a power gain between 0.2 and 1 power point, maximum 5 points per day. Unlike other products, newspapers have different quality degrees, not depending on the production license, but on the votes given to that particular article. It is a difficult concept. Suppose a publisher has 1,000 newspapers in stock. All these papers have only one quality. Suppose that the magazine has published two articles. The first item was voted by readers as a 4 star article and was voted second with one star. When reading for the first time an article, you will get 0.8 power points, corresponding to the quality degree of the article and the magazine will sell you one newspaper and it will have 999 newspapers left on stock. When first reading the second article, you will receive 0.2 power points and the newspaper will have 998 newspapers left on stock. Newspapers are produced using paper, workforce and specific tools.

* Fabrics are the components of clothes and especially of hot air balloons which consume many fabrics. Fabrics are produced by companies producing fabrics, using specific means of production. They need cotton and workforce needs to be produced. The unit is square meter (one MP).


Production Licenses

Before starting its activity, a company needs production licenses. A production license allows to the owner of the company to manufacture a certain range of products. Licenses are granted for each quality of the product. If you own a license for the production of level 2 pole axes, you cannot produce level 3 pole axes. Licenses are purchased from the game fund and can then be sold. Prices for licenses are fixed and uniform. A license for a 1 level product costs 1 EURO and for a five level product it may be purchased at the price of 5 Euro. We will briefly discuss some aspects regarding licenses.

Acquisition of licenses
You can purchase a license in two ways: directly from the game or from another company. In order to purchase a license directly from the game, go to the page of company administration, from section �Licenses�. You will find there a list of licenses that can be purchased directly from the game. Payment in this case is made in Euros. You can also buy licenses from companies which no longer want them. For this go to page Goods / Production Licenses. In this case, payment is made in local currency. You can hold one license for each particular product. There is NO maximum limit of the number of licenses held, but a company can purchase licenses only in the area in which it has its activity. To purchase, click on the Buy button which is near the license. Once purchased, the products\' stock is made.

List of licenses held
Immediately after purchase, a license enters into the company stock. To see the list of licenses owned, go to the page of the Company, at the Administration heading, License section where you can find the list of licenses owned, together with the production requirements for each particular product.

Deactivating a license
By deactivating a license, the production for the associated product is stopped. To deactivate a license, go to the page of licenses (my companies / Company / administration / licenses) and click the button Deactivate. You can always reactivate your license. You can choose to deactivate licenses if, for a period, you need an increased production for other types of products.

Selling a license
If you want to permanently stop the manufacture of a product, you can sell the corresponding license. To sell a license, go to page licenses (my companies / Company / Administration / Licenses), fix a price and click the Sell button. Remember that buying and selling of licenses can only be made in local currency. WARNING: Along with the sale of the license, the stock transfer products corresponding to the new owner is made. Check before the product stock and carefully calculate your potential losses.

Companies

Companies represent the essence of economic life. In ANNO1777 there are five classes of companies: companies producing raw materials, companies producing instruments and tools, service companies, financial companies and companies producing consumer goods. Companies producing raw materials are: iron manufacturing companies, wood manufacturing companies, cotton companies, farms, vineyards, paper manufacturing companies and fabrics manufacturing companies. There is only one type of company which produces instruments and tools. Financial companies are represented by banks. Service companies are newspapers, lotteries, bookmakers, advertising agencies, trade companies and organizations. Companies producing consumer goods are the wine cellars, clothing manufacturing companies, weapon manufacturing companies and companies producing means of transportation. Except for service companies, banks and wine cellars, the management of companies is identical. Please note that absolutely all companies have certain aspects in common. There are inventories, employment, branches, and the employees turn raw materials into finished products, whether it\'s about banks or iron producing companies. Further, we will talk about the common elements of the companies, and after that we will describe the administration of certain types of companies.

Setting up Companies

Anyone can open an unlimited number of companies by paying the corresponding fee. Setting up a company requires a fee, depending on the type of company you choose. Fee is paid to the game fund. The fees for setting up a company are shown in the opening page of the company. The process is conducted in two simple steps. First step, go to My Companies page. Press the button Set up. You will be taken to the page with the types of companies available. Click on the button Open. You will need to fill in the following fields:


* Country - A company can work in only one country. You can set up a company in any country.
* Name - Company name.
* Stock Symbol - a sequence of four characters that will uniquely identify the company on stock exchange. The symbol of the country (RO, UK, U.S. ...) will be put in front of these characters to get the complete stock exchange symbol. For example if you open a company in Austria for which you choose DSER symbol, the final stock exchange symbol will be ATDSER.
* Short description - A brief overview of the company and the services it provides
* Image - An image to represent the company. Minimum size is 60x60 pixels.


Once opened, the company will be visible in My Companies page.

Shares and Shareholders

A newly founded company has 1000 shares available. But just like any public company in the real world, some shares must be maintained on the market. Because of this, only 900 shares are the owner\'s. 100 shares are transferred to the game fund. The fund immediately puts them on sale, at their nominal value. For example if you set up a wood manufacturing company with 100 GOLD, you will receive 900 shares with a nominal value of 0.1 gold / share, 100 shares will go to the fund, and the Fund will place them on sale at a price of 0.1 gold per share. Nobody can own more than 90% of a company, i.e. 900 shares, 100 shares will be permanently owned by other players. Note that you can sell as much as you want of the company, but only the main shareholder has the right to administer it. Main shareholder means the shareholder with the largest stock of shares, not necessarily minimum 50%. A player could be the manager of a company by owning only 25% of shares for example, as long as no one has more in that company. You can anytime put on sale your shares at a minimum price of 0.01 gold on the stock market.

General Management of companies

As mentioned before, all companies have a common core of management. First go to My Companies page. Use the button Administration, and after that choose the tab Administration. On this page there are the administration sections. We will make a brief presentation below:


* Production & Inventory - On this page you can view the status of the means of production together with stocks of raw materials and finished products. Also here you can put products on sale.
* Jobs - On this page the available jobs are listed. Also from this page you can create new jobs. The work record shows the works performed by employees, together with the raw materials consumed and the wage received.
* Branches - On this page you can view a list of open branches. Also here you can open new outlets.
* Financial Operations - From this page you can perform basic financial operations such as investment / withdraw of money from the company and foreign exchange.
* Accounting - Here are all the company\'s financial operations in chronological order.
* Production Licenses - On this page there are production licenses, together with the necessary quantity of raw materials to manufacture each particular product. Also here you can activate or suspend licenses.
* General Settings - From this page you can change the company name or logo.


Means of Production

Instruments and tools are essential for production. Every company needs them and no company owns them since the beginning. Instruments and tools are produced by companies producing means of production and have 5 quality degrees. The higher the quality of the means of production, the higher their productivity and life duration. Remember that quality 1 means of production DO NOT increase the production. The means of production at level 2 bring an increase of 5%, 10%, 15% and 25%. In other words, you get a larger production with quality 5 instruments and tools as compared to the ones having 1 quality. What does increased productivity mean? It\'s simple: if an employee that you pay 1 EUR / HOUR produces 100 kg iron / 8 HOURS with level-1 tools, the same worker will produce 200 kg / day of iron with level 5 tools, given that his salary is NOT changed. Not only high quality equipment will dramatically increase the production, but their resistance increases with the number of stars. A level-5 machinery will produce 5 times more iron than a level one machinery until it is taken out. It is important to gradually buy high quality tools. On page Production & Inventory from the management company area, you can see the means of production situation. Initially the company will not have instruments, so they have to be bought. A warning will indicate this. Click on the Buy button and go to section Goods / Production Machinery in the main menu, select the appropriate category and buy the product. If raw material is on stock, you can start working.

Stocks of raw materials and finished products


* * Companies use raw materials for manufacturing. Raw materials from ANNO1777 are wood, iron, cotton, paper, meat and leather. A company may use up to three raw materials to manufacture finished products.
* To see the stocks of raw materials and finished products go to page Company Management, on section Inventory - My company / Administration/ Stocks. The raw material table indicates the quantity in stock and the price by which it has been purchased. Click the Buy button to go to the market.
* The table with finished materials stocks is shown below. The production price, the quantity in the warehouse and the quantity put on sale are indicated. Also in this table you can put on sale the products in stock at any price. Pay attention to the price, which should always be greater than the purchase price, plus the appropriate lump sum. Check the value of the lump sum from the country where you have your business in order to determine the right price for the products. Note that this fee is paid to the state budget after each sale.


Jobs and wages

We will briefly review below the characteristics of the jobs. To accept workers, a company must first have available workstations.

* At the beginning, the company has only one job available. You can further create an unlimited number of jobs.

* Remember that each job has to be assigned to a region. Jobs are available only in regions with which you associate them. A job associated with the region of Moldova will be available only in that region, which means that only citizens residing in that area can work on the job. You can only assign jobs in the regions where the company has opened branches.

* Only citizens of the country in which the company is open may be employed in jobs that the company offers.

* Each job may be assigned a wage. To change the wage paid for a certain job, go to page My Companies / Administration / Jobs, write the new wage in the appropriate box and click OK

* A job may be held by maximum one worker for 8 consecutive hours, then automatically the job becomes available on the market.

* At a certain point in time, a worker can become an employer only at the workplace which offers the highest wage. If for example, there are two jobs A and B available on the market, one offering 23 RON / HOUR and the other one 21 RON / HOUR, a player can be employed only in the first place. After employment, job A will become unavailable and job B will become the highest paid job.

* To see what jobs are available in the company, go to page My Companies / Administration / Jobs. On this page you can modify wages and the region in which a job is available. To disable a job, click on the X button in front of it. If the company runs without means of production or raw material stocks, the system will automatically disable all the jobs offered. To reactivate a job, press the OK button. But first make sure that the problem for which the jobs were suspended was solved. You can see in the section Events the reason for the interruption (on the top of every page there is a link to Events).

* Under the table which displays the available jobs in the company, on the left side, there is a link Create New Jobs. You can set up an unlimited number of jobs. Setting up a job costs 1 EURO

* Please note that the wage which you offer refers to a player with 100% productivity, which means that only one worker with 100% productivity, will be paid that wage. The rest of them will only receive a certain percentage given by the productivity. The wage is paid in local currency of the country where the company operates, and its value refers to payment for one hour of work. The wage offered may not be less than the minimum wage set by the government. Suppose you offer a wage of 10 EUR / HOUR in an iron producing company and that it takes one hour of work to produce 10 kg of iron. A worker with 100% productivity will work 8 hours, during which he will produce 80 kg of iron. For his work he will receive 80 RON. A worker with 80% productivity will also work 8 hours, during which he will only produce 64 kg of iron, and will receive a wage of 64 RON.

* Productivity is determined by considering the power as a percentage of the economic score. A new player has an initial economic score of 10 points. Every 24 hours the economic score automatically decreases with 1 point, and after each day\'s work, the economic score increases by 2 points. In other words, the economic score reaches 100 points after three months, or 90 CONSECUTIVE working days. But of course, a higher economic score does not mean much if the power is not as high. A 10% power and an economic score of 80 lead to a productivity of 8%. A power of 50% and an economic score of 50% means a productivity by 25%.


Branches


* For a company\'s products to be available in a region, the company needs a branch in that region. Note that a player can ONLY buy products that available in the region where he is at a certain moment in time. A player in the region of Moldova can only buy products from companies that have opened a branch in that region.

* For a company to provide jobs in a region, it needs a branch in that region and an associated job. Workplaces CANNOT be associated with regions where a company has a branch.

* A company can open one branch per region.

* In a region it can only be produced ONE type of raw material. For example, in Muntenia, only wood can be produced. The rule is valid only for raw materials. Any region can produce any type of by-product.

* On the page of Administration of the company, section Branches, you can find the list of the country\'s regions. You will also find which raw materials can be produced in a region. To open a branch, click the Open button. Opening a new branch costs 1 Euro.


Financial Operations

In one company, three types of financial operations can be carried out, which are essential for the proper conduct of business. You will find below some details about these operations. Go to page Administration of the company, on section Financial Operations

* The first type of operation is gold investment. A company has its accounts and accounting separate from that of the owners. In other words, when buying raw materials company, the money will be paid from company accounts. Initially all company balances are nil. To create jobs or branches, you need to make some investments in the company. Remember that in a company only gold can be invested or withdrawn. On page Financial Operations you can find the form with which you can make investments. Write the amount you wish to transfer to the company and press Invest. The money will immediately go into the company accounts.

* The second type of operation is withdrawing money from the company. Only gold can be withdrawn from one company. When you withdraw gold from a company, all its shareholders will be paid depending on the number of shares. A company has 1000 shares available, if you own only 750 shares, for example, and withdraw 100 GOLD, you will only receive 75 GOLD, the rest being distributed to the shareholders. Also the dividends you receive from the company represent taxable income. Taxes will be paid both to the owner and to the estate.

* The third type of operations is foreign exchange between company accounts. Since you can only invest GOLD, and wages are paid in local currency of the country in which the company is open, at a certain point in time you will have to make exchanges. On page Financial Operations, you will find the appropriate form. Write the amount in gold that you want to buy or sell and click Buy / Sell button. The exchange will be made instantly on the local FOREX market.


Accounting

As mentioned before, companies have accounts and make transactions on their own name, completely separate from the owners. On the page Administration, you will find the Accounting section where you will see all the transactions made by the company since its establishment until present, listed chronologically.

Licenses

Every company needs a license to manufacture a certain product. Licenses are granted for every quality of each product. A quality 1 gun requires a separate license, as compared to a quality 3 gun. Licenses are sold by the game and are available in unlimited number. Also, licenses are transferable and can be sold after the acquisition. On the page of Administration of the company, you will find the section Licenses. Here are listed all licenses purchased by the company. Companies which manufacture products with one single quality, such as iron or wood companies, have a license granted since its establishment and you don\'t need to buy more. Companies such as restaurants or companies producing weapons, need licenses, which can be purchased after opening.

General Settings

From the page General Settings you can make changes in respect of name, description or photo of the company. If you purchased a company from another player or simply want to change the company name, you can do it here. Remember that the stock symbol cannot be changed and will remain the same as that of its establishment.

Duties and Taxes

There are two types of taxes that a company has to pay to the estate. The first one if the Wage Tax and the second one is the lump sum (similar to the VAT from real life). Wage tax is paid automatically when a worker is employed at your company. The quantum of tax is set by the government, representing a percentage between 0% and 50%. The lump sum is set by the government for each particular product and represents a FIXED amount of money in national currency to be paid by the company after each sale.



Banking & Finance

The financial system from ANNO1777 tries to be similar to a real-world financial system. Its purpose is to facilitate the movement of money. In other words it creates the means by which those who need money and those who have excess of money to meet on a common market. The financial system is composed of four different markets. Currency Market (FOREX), banking offers market, stock market and government obligations market. The participants in the financial system are citizens, banks and government. In this chapter we will examine each issue separately.

Money Market

In this game there are three types of coins. First there is the EURO, the currency which can be exchanged into REAL EUROS at a rate of 1:1, gold and the country\'s national currencies. There are also two markets: EURO / gold that can be bought / sold, EUROS in exchange for gold and gold / local currency, for each particular country. On this market can be sold / bought gold coins in exchange for local currencies. Any player can buy or sell any currency at any time without restriction. You can access the money market by going to the section Financial Market (main menu).

Exchange rate
In a normal market, in order to buy a currency, someone must sell it first. In ANNO1777 the market works automatically and the currency adjusts after each transaction. Here are some examples in order to better understand this mechanism. Suppose that on the EURO / gold market, the exchange rate is 9.5110, i.e. 1 EURO = 9.5110 GOLD. Suppose you sell 5 Euros. The sale is made on the spot, but the amount received will not be 47.5550 GOLD. After each sold Euro, the exchange rate automatically falls with 0.0009. The drop rate is obtained by multiplying 0.0001 by the current rate that is 9.5110. So even if you sell 5 EURO in group, the system will make the following calculations:

* The first EURO is sold for 9.5110 GOLD, after than the exchange rate drops to 9.5101
* The second EURO is sold for 9.5101 GOLD, after that the exchange rate 9.5092
* The third EURO is sold for 9.5092 GOLD, after that the exchange rate drops to 9.5083
* The fourth EURO is sold for 9.5083 GOLD, after that the exchange rate drops to 9.5074
* The last EURO is sold for 9.5074 GOLD, after that the exchange rate drops to 9.5065

Basically you will receive in return an amount of 9.5110 +9.5101 +9.5092 +9.5083 +9.5074 = 47.5460 gold and new exchange rate will be 9.5065 gold for one EURO. This system also applies when buying EUROS and of course in the case of transactions between gold and national currencies.

Currency exchange commissions
After each currency exchange commissions will be paid. For the EURO/ gold market, the fee is basically the amount by which the commission has increased / decreased following the transaction. In the example above, the market has decreased by 0.0045 which is exactly the commission that will be paid. The commission is paid in the currency bought, in our case GOLD. The situation differs in the case of exchange with countries\' currencies. Here there is a percentage fee which can vary between 0.01% and 5% applied to each transaction. Money from this fee shall be paid to the budget of the respective country and the fee is set by each particular government.

The currency conversion
To sell or buy EUROS, go to the \'Financial Market\' section from the main menu. To make exchanges with other countries\' currencies, go to the same page, at section gold / CURRENCY and select the corresponding country. After completing the sum, the press the button Sell / Buy.

Banks

For any market economy, banks are a key element. The role of banks is to take over the excess of capital from those who hold it in order to place it to those who need it. For the services offered, the banks from the real world collect fees and interest. Exactly the same thing happens in ANNO1777. Anyone can open a bank in order to raise money to give to those who need it.

How the Banks work inside ?

* First, please note that there is a clear distinction between own funds of banks and the depositors\' money. Also, all loans are guaranteed by the government. If depositors are unable to pay, the state budget will cover the losses. A virtual bank is a type of company like any other. It needs means of production and workforce to manufacture products, and based on the products, they offer services.

* Banks attract money through deposits and current accounts for which they offer interest, and place that money to those who need it, through loans. Banks also allow money transfers between current accounts. Generally the interest rate offered by banks is lower as compared to the required interest. Profit comes from the difference between the interest offered / required and the taxes on transfers / withdraws / deposits of money.


Means of production and banking products
A bank uses paper as raw material. Based on the paper, it produces deposit certificates, current account certificates, credit certificates and transfer forms. Each product category is used to provide a specific type of service. Without these items on stock, the bank cannot provide a specific type of service.

* Deposit certificates - For each deposit opened at a bank, a deposit certificate is consumed. Without deposit certificates on stock, banks cannot offer deposits

* Current account certificates - for each account opened at a bank, a current account certificate is consumed. Without current account certificates on stock, the banks cannot open current accounts.

* Credit Certificates - For each credit provided by the bank, a credit certificate is consumed. Without credit certificates on stock, banks cannot offer loans.

* Transfer Certificates - for each bank transfer, a transfer certificate is consumed. Without transfer certificates on stock, banks cannot make transfers.

These certificates are made based on the means of production and on the workforce employed by the bank.

Loan Fund
In a bank, the depositors\' money coming from current accounts and deposits are kept in a special fund called the Loan Fund. The bank manager DOES NOT have access to this fund so he cannot withdraw money from the fund unless he previously invested in it his own money of the bank. From this fund, money can be taken for payment of cash withdrawals or loans. Also in this fund are paid all the money from deposits and current accounts opened at the bank. The interests owed by the bank are paid from the company accounts. Also the interests and taxes are charged by the bank are also paid into the company accounts.

Insolvency

* Every day, banks pay interest for deposits and opened current accounts. Every day, interest is charged from those who have bank loans. Both interest earned and interest due are paid in the bank\'s own accounts. If a bank runs out of money for interest payments, then all affected accounts will be closed, be it deposits or current accounts. Depositors\' money is refunded from the bank\'s lending fund whether the fund has money or not.

* If a player does not have money to pay daily interest, the money will automatically be withdrawn and the player will no have anything in his account. If the person who contracted the loan refuses to play anymore, and the account is closed for inactivity, the state budget will bear the negative balance. This is the reason why we said earlier that all loans are guaranteed by the government.


Loans

* Anyone can contact a credit if he worked at least five days. .

* The maximum credit that can be contracted is calculated using the formula Credit = Revenue * Indicator, where Credit = maximum credit that can be contracted, Revenue = revenue from WORK performed during the last N days, where N is the number of days by which the credit will be contracted, Indicator = maximum degree of indebtedness established by the government. The maximum degree of indebtedness represents a fixed percentage established by each individual government. It can vary between 10% and 1000%.

* Here is an example. In the last 10 days, player A had an income from work of 400 RON. The Indebtedness degree established by the government is 300%. The player will be able to access a loan of 1,200 RON for the next 10 days. There is also a governmental indicator which indicates the maximum credit that can be taken. Suppose the maximum threshold is 1,000 RON. In the above example, the player may only take 1000 RON.

* To contact a bank loan, go to page bank and review the offer.

* Any bank can set an interest rate and the period for which the loan is granted. Banks can set up maximum five types of loans. You can contact only the maximum loan allowed. Intermediate values are not accepted. After contracting, the interest will be deducted automatically from the bank every day. Even if you have money in the account, the bank will automatically withdraw money. On due date, the bank will automatically withdraw the value of the loan.

* When contracting the loan, money is taken from the bank\'s lending fund. But interest payment is made on the bank\'s own accounts. The lending fund also collects the money returned at the end.


Current Accounts
Bank accounts are bank instruments through which you can have immediate access to money. You can open a current account from the bank\'s presentation page. After opening a current account at a bank from the game, you can immediately start depositing, withdrawing or transferring money. Note that each type of operation is charged by the bank. You can see a list of bank accounts owned on page Accounting / Financial Assets / Accounts & Loans. Also on this page you can submit / withdraw / liquidate or transfer money. Click the button Extract and you will have access to the list of transactions made with that account.

Deposits
Unlike current accounts, bank deposits have a pre-established validity period. During this period you have NO access to money from the deposit. The money will be automatically refunded with interest at the due date. You can open a deposit directly from the bank presentation page. After opening, you can see information regarding the deposit on page Accounting / Financial Assets / Accounts & Deposits. The interest is paid by the bank daily directly into the deposit account.

Remittances
You can send money from a current account in any other account opened in the same currency. You CANNOT transfer the money of owners or slaves. Also you cannot transfer money if you have a contracted loan. To transfer money go to page Financial Assets / Accounts & Loans, choose the account from which you want to make the transfer, click the Transfer button and fill out all information carefully. Transfers are made immediately.

Fees and commissions
Banks can establish their own fees and commissions. It is advisable to carefully check these fees before contracting loans or making bank transfers. The bank offers and collects interest for current accounts and deposits. The bank collects fees for the following transactions:


* Cash deposits in current accounts.
* Withdraws from current accounts
* Transfer of money from one bank account to another


Shares


* A share represents the ownership right over a part of a company. A newly founded company in the game has 1000 shares. Of these 1000, only 900 are held by the establisher. Since all companies from ANNO1777 are public, the remaining 100 are automatically sold by the state budget to other players. In other words no one can hold more than 900 (90%) of shares in a company.

* Shares bring dividends and can also be traded on a free market. Every time a company owner withdraws money from the company, the money will be distributed to all shareholders of the company, depending on the number of shares held. Let\'s say A, who owns company B, withdraws 100 gold from the company. Suppose there are two shareholders in company B. The first is the owner with 900 shares and you are second one, with 100 shares. You will automatically receive 10 gold from the 100 withdrawn.

* Shares may be sold and purchased. You can see the list of shares that you own on page Accounting / Financial Assets / Shares & Bonds. Also on this page you can set the selling price of a share. The stock market is available at section Financial Market / Shares. On this page you can see a list of all the shares offered for sale. Note that the stock market is global, so you can also see the shares put on sale by players from other countries.


Bonds


* Bonds are financial titles issued by governments to cover deficits. Practically, these are loans contacted by the state budget loans from the population. There are two types of bonds. Those issued in local currency and those in GOLD. The first ones can be bought only by the citizens of the country in which they were issued. The ones in gold can be purchased by anyone. After acquisition, the bonds can be traded on a free market. A government may issue a finite number of bonds based on the number of citizens, the equivalent of 1 gold /stronghold and 10 Local Currency / citizen. If, for example, country X has 5,000 citizens, it means that it can issue bonds worth 5000 gold and 50.000 Local Currency.

* Bonds have nominal value, interest and life duration. The value of a share is automatically set to 1 and cannot be changed. Life duration is also set automatically to 100 days and also cannot be changed. Interest is variable and determined by the government. Interest refers to interest paid daily by the budget. For example, if a country\'s government issued bonds worth 1,000 gold at an interest rate of 1%, this means that it has issued 1000 bonds, each with a nominal value of 1 gold. For these bonds, the government will pay to every owner, every day, an interest rate of 0.001 gold / owned bond. If you buy 10 bonds of this issue, you will get 0.1 gold daily. On due date, the issuer of the bonds pays the nominal value to the owner, in this case 1 gold / bond.

* All interest brought by the obligation, as well as the final payment on due date are guaranteed by the system. That means you get money even if the state budget DOES NOT have those money. Basically, the budget may come down because of that. Bond market is available on Financial Market / Bonds.




Press

They say that press is the fourth power in the state. A free press is essential to any democracy. Without total freedom of expression, the newspapers are turned from democratic instruments to tools hold by the dictators or by people who have power. ANNO1777 press is specifically characterized by its total freedom of expression of the newspapers\' owners. Anyone can open a magazine and anyone can write anything about everything. A review may address any topic clearly whether it is pornography or direct attacks on the person.

How a magazine makes money
A magazine is a type of company that consumes paper as raw material and produces newspapers. Like other types of companies, the means of production of magazines have five quality degrees that influence their capacity and productivity. Magazines produce copies based on the work and the means of production. When a player first reads an article, he will actually buy that newspaper. He pays a price and a newspaper is withdrawn from the company stocks. Also after first reading, he receives up to 1 power point, depending on the article\'s rating. This is the basic mechanism through which media system works in the game. Magazine owners are free to set price for the newspapers. Prices are set according to the rating given by the readers for articles in the section Products Management / Prices.

Writing an Article
To write an article, go to the Administration page of the magazine, on section Write an Article. An article contains a title, introduction and content. Optionally, a photo can be attached to every article. Pictures are important instruments in attracting customers. If the subject of the article or the images are pornographic, you must check the appropriate box on this page. Note that a magazine may publish only one article every 6 hours. You can write several articles at once, but they will appear in sequence, one every 6 hours. Theoretically you can write articles in a single day for 10 days without any problem. You can add to the articles images or external links and can format the text with the help of BBCode. Note that there are two types of articles. Those written in national language (not English) which will be available in the country where the magazine was open, and articles written in English which can be read by any player, regardless of the country. Articles written in English appear in the box International Press on the first page. The price of international articles is fixed in GOLD.

Articles\' Rating
Players can give ratings to articles. The rating is between 1 and 5 stars. Depending on the ratings, the readers receive more or less power. A 1-star article brings 0.2 power points, while a 5-star one will bring 1 point. To obtain a certain rating, a minimum number of votes is required. At this time, in order for an article to receive two stars,10 votes are necessary, for 3 stars - 20 votes, for 4 stars - 30 notes and for 5 stars - 40 votes with an average of five stars. Because they give lots of power, a higher price should be put for high quality articles.

Advertising in magazines
Besides selling newspapers, magazines can gain from advertising. At the end of each article, there are two advertising spots displayed. The spots can be rented by those interested. The list of available spots can be found in our section Advertising / Magazine Spots. Price is determined by the owner of the magazine in section Articles Management / Advertising Spots.

Subscribers
By subscription, a player can automatically receive all the numbers of the magazine. That does NOT mean that he will not pay for the magazine. It means that he will have quick access to his favorite magazine appearances, even on the first page of section Press Subscriptions. You can see the list of subscribers in our Articles Management / subscribers list.




Wars and slaves

First of all, we must say that in ANNO1777 there are two types of battles. The internal battles which are conducted in order to gain slaves, and the battles between two countries in order to gain regions. The battles between countries can be started only by the organisations and the rules which apply in this case are different from the battles which are conducted between players. In this chapter, we will review the details regarding each type of battle.

Slaves and battles for slaves

Slaves represent the main way through which you can take advantage of the game. You can gain slaves in two ways. By direct attack or by acquisition. As a general rule, if you attack a player and you win, he automatically becomes your slave. From that moment on, he will pay you a fee of maximum 25% of everything he earns. The fee is determined depending on your power. If you have a power of 100%, you receive a fee of 25% of all slaves\' earnings. If one slave is attacked and defeated by another player, you will lose him because your new owner becomes the one who defeated him. Certain slaves are extremely profitable and worth keeping. You can read below about the blocking concept of slaves. Besides the fee of maximum 25% which you receive from a slave, he will give you another fixed sum of 10% from all his real money earnings.

Blocked slaves

* As mentioned above, certain players can become very profitable and worth keeping.

* You can block a slave for an unlimited period of time by paying a fee in EURO. By blocking, that player can no longer be attacked and therefore cannot be lost. He will continue to bring you earnings as long as he\'s active.

* Blocking is made for minimum 7 days.

* The price for blocking is not a fixed one, it varies depending upon the total number of blocked players at the level of the entire game. The formula is Price = Percentage*1EURO, were Price = the blocking price for 7 days, Percentage = the percentage of blocked players at the level of the game. For example, if from 10.000 players, 1000 are blocked, the price of blocking would be 0.1 EURO/ 7 days. If 2500 would be blocked, then the price would be 0.25 EURO/7 days.

* To block a slave, go to section Battle / My slaves and click on the button Block. You must specify the weeks during which you want to do the blockage.


Permanent slaves
If a player comes into the game through your personal link, he will become your permanent slave, which means that he will permanently pay you a fee of maximum 10% no matter who his actual slave is. The same as direct slaves, permanent slaves can be sold or bought. You can find the list of permanent slaves on section Battle / Permanent Slaves.

The attack and the bonus for attacking
You have two possibilities to choose your targets for attack. The first one and the easiest one is to go to page Battles from the main menu. You will find there a list with all the players ready for a battle. Remember that in order for a battle to begin the following conditions must be fulfilled:

* The attacker as well as the defender must be in the same region.
* The attacker as well as the defender must be free ( not traveling, fighting or working ).
* The attacked player must not be blocked.
* The attacked player must have a weaker defence than the attacker\'s attack.
* The attacked player must not be a slave of the player who attacks.
* The attacked player must not be the owner of the player who attacks.

A battle lasts for 20 minutes, and during this time, the ones involved in the battle cannot work nor can begin other battles. Even if the battle lasts for 20 minutes, its result is decided on the spot, and the attacked player immediately appears on your list of slaves. The attacker can end a battle on the spot by paying the sum of 0.1 EURO.
The second method for choosing targets is the classifications. You can find the classifications by clicking on the button Classification from the main menu where there are listed all the players depending on various criteria such as working days, the number of slaves, the balance accounts, etc. You can easily identify active players who worth being attacked.

Administration of slaves
IOn page Battle / Slaves, you will find the list with the slaves that you won depending on their type. Also here you can find information regarding the earnings generated by a slave. The income in front of the blocked slaves indicates if they had been profitable or not. A profitable slave is a slave who generated big earnings in gold than the expenses for his blockage.

The attack, the defence and their importance
In the game, there are 10 types of attack weapons and 10 types of defence weapons. The total attack is calculated depending on the score for the attack weapons and power. The attack and the defence determine the result of a battle no matter the type of the battle. The result is decided by comparing the attack of the one who attacks with the defence of the one who\'s being attacked. Weapons have 5 quality categories and depending on their quality, they have a certain resistance and offer a certain score.

Trade with slaves
Whether it\'s about unblocked slaves, blocked or permanent slaves, they can be sold on a global market. Global market means that anyone can participate in it because it\'s not limited to a particular country. In other words, you can buy slaves from any country. All the transactions are made in GOLD. You can find the slaves\' market on section Slaves\' Market from the main menu. Unblocked, blocked or permanent slaves are separately transactioned depending on the category. Remember that for each transaction with slaves, the seller will pay a fee towards the state. The fee is fixed and established by the government. Check carefully the taxes imposed by the government before fixing a selling price.

Battles between the countries

Apart from the direct battles between players which result in capturing slaves, there are battles between countries which result in capturing regions. In a region, only one type of raw material can be produced. Any country has minimum 5 regions in which there are the 5 basic raw materials (wood, iron, cotton, meat and leather, grapes). If one country has one single region then that country becomes a net importer. The purpose of capturing regions is, among territorial extension, the battle for resources.

Military coalitions
Any country can sign a coalition with any other country. in a coalition there can be maximum 5 countries. If a country from the coalition is attacked, then the citizens of the countries from the coalition can fight for defence. Basically, in a war between countries, only citizens from the countries directly involved can fight, plus the citizens from the allied countries.

Creating the coalitions
Initially, the coalition is created following a government decision and it is given a name. In order for a country to enter in the coalition, 2 conditions must be respected. All the countries from the coalition must vote the law byway of which it is accepted in the coalition and also the country which wants to enter in the coalition to vote a law in their own government which would allow it to do that. If all these conditions and fulfilled, the country will automatically enter in the coalition. To get out of a coalition, a law must be voted in the government of that country which wants to get out of the coalition. A country can be forced to be excluded from the coalition if the governments of all member countries vote that exclusion. When a law is proposed in a government to include a new country in a coalition, all the governments of the member countries will automatically receive, when voting, the same law. Voting is made separately by each government. The rule is valid in case the exclusion of a country from a coalition is proposed.

Starting wars
First of all, you have to know that the only entities which are capable to start wars are the organisations. Also, besides occupying a region, the purpose of a war between countries is the profit. The mechanism of wars allows both the fighters and the organisations to gain profit. The war is started by the owner of the coalition.

The mechanisms of the war
We will discuss below the steps for carrying on a war:

* The owner of an organisation from country A decides to start a war to conquer the region R from country B. to effectively start it, enter the interface of administration of the organisation on section Wars, and start the conflict.

* The organisation which starts the war is a guaranty equivalent to 0.1 GOLD / player who had the right to fight in the last 24 hours. Here\'s an example. Suppose country A (the country of the organisation) is part of a coalition from which countries A1 and A2 are part of. Country B (the attacked country) is part of a coalition from which countries B1, B2 and B3 are part of. The disputed region is R. Suppose that in country A there had been 1000 active players in the last 24 hours. In country A1 500, in A2 100, in B 2000, in B1 1000, in B2 500 ad in B3 100 active players in 24 hours. In the last 24 hours, in the fighting countries and allies 5200 players had been active. The organisation must have a guaranty of 520 GOLD.

* The war is presented on page Battle /Active Wars from the countries having the right to fight. In 24 hours since the beginning, the war will effectively start. Until then, registrations take place.

* The registration fee in a war is 1 GOLD. Money goes to the organisation which started it. If only 10% of the total number of active players for which the guaranty fee has been paid enrol in the war, then the organisation gains profit. In this respect, a well organised advertising company is essential.

* In order to effectively participate at the war, all fighters must go to the disputed region. Registrations can be made remotely, but to fight everyone must be in that region.

* At the scheduled hour, war interface becomes active. To enter the battle area, click on the button Fight in front of the War.

* Battles in the war take place exactly the same as the direct ones. You will see a list of opponents registered in the war, ready to fight, which can be attacked. You can only attack opponents from the adverse countries (the attacked country and the countries of the coalition) which have an inferior defence as compared to your attack. A battle in a war lasts between 5 and 500 seconds. Its duration is randomly determined. There are no rules. The battles in the war can be finished on the spot, as well the direct ones.

* Each fight is REWARDED with a sum between 0.01 GOLD and 0.25 GOLD. The amount is paid from the fund made by the organisation. The amount is paid depending on the situation which you\'re in and depending on the attack or the total defence. For example, if you have the maximum attack (all weapons are 5 level in inventory plus 100% power), then after each ATTACK you will get the maximum amount of 0.25 GOLD. For example, if you have a maximum defence (all defence weapons are 5 level and 100% power) after each battle when you had been ATTACKED you will get the maximum amount, i.e. 0.25 GOLD. Suppose you have all the attack weapons with 5 stars and a power of 50%. In this case each attack that you make will bring you 0.125 GOLD. It\'s obvious that an attack which you started and a defence started are extremely important in order to gain money from a war.

* After each attack won by a fighter, the score of the coalition from which it belongs, increases.

* The war ends when the allocated budget is EMPTIED. Then the player\'s victories from the attacking coalition are compared to the player\'s victories from the attacked coalition. The coalition with the greatest number of victories wins.

* If the organisation which started the war is in country A, and the coalition of country A wins the war, then the disputed region R becomes part of that country. If the war is lost, then nothing is changed. The region remains at the former country.


Basically all the war participants COULD win:

* The organisation which started the confrontation wins from the registration fees
* The fighters earn money received for each battle
* The country in which the organisation is wins a new territory.


In the real world and also in ANNO1777 war is a business. And in business you can easily earn money sometimes. Organisations which start wars for regions situated far away from one another or do not make enough publicity, the war could not attract enough fighters to cover its initial guaranty. Also, the fighters which enter in confrontations with a reduced power have nothing to gain. A balance between power / attack / defence is essential in wining money in wars.



Politics and elections


In any democracy, there are free elections and elected presidents. The election system in ANNO1777 is a bit different and guarantees to everyone the possibility to become a president. There is one country president and 18 governors. Unlike the contemporary systems, in ANNO1777 all candidatures are independent. There is no need to be proposed by a party and also there is no need to be supported by a politic organization. You can become an important person and it\'s all up to you and your power to convince the electorate that YOU are the best. Elections are held each month and the process has 3 steps. The firs one is submission of candidatures, the second one is voting the candidates and the third one is announcing the position of the winners.

Submitting the candidature

The submission of candidatures takes place every month between day 1 and 3. The submission is made on page Presidency & Government / Elections. Submission of candidature means the response you give to 10 questions related to the economy and finances from ANNO1777. The price for submission of candidature is 5 GOLD and the money is paid in the state budget. After submission, the list of the responses will be published so that electors can comment.

Elections

ZThe election day is the 4th day of every month. Only one vote / player is allowed. Votes are confidential. To vote, go to page Candidature and click on the button Vote.

Deciding the winners

On the 5th day the list of winners is shown. The winners are decided depending on the order of the obtained votes. The player with the highest number of votes becomes he president of the country. If the last candidates with the lowest number of votes have the same number of obtained votes, the selection is made depending on the power they have at that moment.

Governing

Once the elections are ended, governors have access to a special interface where they can vote laws. Any governor can propose a new law. There are 2 conditions. The law should not be already submitted to be voted. The second one is that the governor should not have previously proposed this law which had been rejected following the voting process. Basically if someone proposes the change of the lump sum for houses and the law is rejected, the same governor CANNOT ask again the change of the same tax in this mandate.

Types of laws

The government has the economy in its hands and therefore has a wide range of laws which it can modify. You will find below the law categories which can be voted by the government.

* Modification of bonuses
* Modification of lump sums on trade with slaves
* Modification of governor\'s wages
* Modificarea taxelor pe tranzactiile valutare
* Modification of governor\'s wages
* Donating money to the governmental organizations
* Acquisition of permanent slaves on the market


Proposing and voting laws

To propose a law, go to page Administration of Government, Propose Laws. You will see the list of fees and bonuses which are available. Here you can propose a new value. The law will automatically enter into the voting system. Also it can be commented by the electorate. Law can be voted for 24 hours. For a law to be promulgated, it must be voted by at least 5 governors, and the number of votes has to be higher than the one against the law.

Fees and bonuses

In any real economy, there are fees and taxes. Unlike real world, in ANNO1777 there are bonuses, and many times they are enough to exceed a usual daily wage. Both fees and bonuses are established by the governor and have certain pre-established minimal and maximal values.

Fees
There are 5 categories of fees


* Lump sums for transferring products. This fee is the equivalent of VAT in the real world. For each transfer of products, the seller will pay a fixed amount established by the government. The government establishes the basic fees for products. These refer to raw materials and to Q1 products. For high quality products, the basic fee is multiplied by the quality of the product. For example, if lump sum for transferring houses is established at 100 RON, then it refers to Q1 houses. For Q2 houses, it will be 100 RON and for Q5 - 500 RON. These fees are very important because they practically impose minimal selling prices and represent an important income source for the state budgets. This fee is paid only by the companies.

* Fee on currency transfers represents the percentage which must be paid by those making currency transactions with local currency. It will automatically be withdrawn after each performed currency transaction. This fee is paid both by the companies and by natural persons

* Fees on slaves\' transfer. There are 3 types of fees for slaves\' transfer. For direct unblocked, blocked and permanent slaves. The fee will be paid by the slaves\' seller after each transaction. The fee will be paid to the state budget of the country in which the seller is a citizen. The fee is paid only by natural persons.

* The personal income tax is paid by any citizen of any source of income it gains, comprising wages and fees earned from slaves. Bonuses are NOT taxed.

* Wage income tax represents the amount of money which companies pay for each wage approved. The tax is automatically paid from the company\'s accounts each time a wage is paid. This fee is paid only by the companies.


Bonuses

Bonuses are granted by the government from the state budget for certain accomplishments of the citizens. Bonuses are not taxable and can be taken from page Bonuses. Certain bonuses are paid once every 24 hours, and others are paid following the accomplishment of certain actions. One thing very important about bonuses is the fact that ALL bonuses are given depending on the POWER you have at the moment of taking that bonus. The value of the bonus doesn\'t matter, nor the type of the bonus. From the quantum of the bonus you will get the percentage given by the power. For example if the work bonus is 10 RON and the power you have is 50%, you will get 5 RON. You can find below the list of existing bonuses. There are 9 bonuses


* The bonus for direct slaves. It is given for each direct slave that you have no matter if it\'s blocked or not. It may be picked up once every 24 hours.

* The bonus for permanent slaves. It is given for each permanent slave that you have. It may be picked up once every 24 hours.

* The bonus for won battles is given every 5 won battles. It can be picked up several times a day.

* The bonus for work is given every 5 days of work in a raw. The bonus for 100% power is given for 100% power. It is given once every 24 hours..

* The bonus for the complete set of clothes is given to players having the whole set of clothes no matter what their quality is. It is given once every 24 hours.

* The bonus for attack weapons is given to players who have the whole set of attack weapons, no matter what their quality is. It is given once every 24 hours.

* The bonus for defense weapons is given to players who have the whole set of attack weapons, no matter what their quality is. It is given once every 24 hours.


State budget

The state budget collects the money coming from fees and taxes and pays the bonuses to citizens. Bonuses represent the main budget expense. When the budget arrives at an amount less than 1000 in local currency, the payment of bonuses is temporary suspended. We will list below the structure of the earnings and expenses of the budget.

Services


Every developed economy has a service segment very well organised. In ANNO1777 there are 2 types of service companies: Organisations and Trade Companies. We will discuss below the details regarding each type of company.


* Organisations
* Trade Companies


Organisations


Organisations are the most important type of service companies. They are extremely flexible entities and can be changed in anything, whether it is politic parties or special types of magazines. Basically the organisations are types of companies which allow members, which can receive or transfer money, can invent new types of services and they are the only entities which are authorised to start wars between countries. They have an external magazine, which is accessible to everyone, an internal one, accessible only to the members, and they make available a delivery system for the members. We will discuss below some of the details regarding the organisations.

Raw materials and finished products
Like any company, organisations consume raw materials (paper) and manufactures finished product (registration forms and tax receipts).

Registering in organisations

Organisations accept members. One member pays a registration fee and a daily subscription. Both the registration fee and the daily subscription are established by the owner. When a member registers in the organisation, he pays a registration fee. For the registration fee from the company stocks, a registration form is consumed. If the organisation does not have registration forms anymore, then all the registrations are suspended. Registration can be made directly from the organisation\'s presentation page. The owner of the organisation can completely suspend the registrations or can establish that all registrations should be pre-approved. An organisation accepts ONLY members from the regions where it has branches. It is important for an organisation to be extended at a territorial level.

Daily subscription

Each day, all members are taxed with a sum representing a daily subscription. The sum is established by the owner of the organisation. For each paid subscription, a tax receipt is consumed from the organisation\'s stocks. If one of the members does NOT have money to pay the subscription he is automatically EXCLUDED from the organisation.

Magazines

As mentioned above, organisations have an internal and an external magazine. The external magazine is available to all the visitors. The internal magazine is available only to members. This way, the organisations could be transformed in special types of magazines, available only to the subscribers. Some aspects must be mentioned regarding the articles written in the organisation\'s magazines:

* They do not cost money and do not consume paper if they are read, unlike the usual articles
* They do not appear on the list of articles from section Goods or from the first page.
* They can be written by any member of the organisation who is authorised to write articles


Members\' section

The members of an organisation have access to a separate section where they can read the internal magazine and where there is a delivery system through which they can communicate. You can reach this section from the presentation page of the organisation by following link Members\' Area.

Administration of organisations

Because the organisations can be administered not only by the owner, a system has been implemented which is a complex system of rights which can authorise certain members to perform certain actions. The administration of an organisation means, besides the usual administration of the company (means of production, stocks, work places, branches), the administration of members, of the magazine, of the access rights, of services and the financial sector. An organisation can receive money from anyone, can donate money and can sell services. We will discuss below each aspect.

Members\' administration

In the administration area you can find the members\' section. Here are listed all the members of the organisation together with the date they registered. It\'s important to remember that a player can register in an organisation ONLY if he is in a region where the organisation has a branch. Members can be excluded at any time. The exclusion can be made by the administrator or by any other person who is authorised by the administrator. You can exclude a member by clicking the button Exclude in front of it. Not only a member can be excluded, but he can have an interdiction to register in the organisation in the future. On heading Excluded from the same page, you have the list of players who have interdiction to register in the organisation. You can add / withdraw anytime players from this list. There is also the possibility that the registration applications of members could be firstly authorised by the administrator. In this case, on section Registration Applications is the list of all who have applied for registration which await to be approved / rejected.

Services\' administration

As mentioned before, the organisations can sell services. Services can mean anything. The content and the price of services are decided by the owner of the organisation. Up to 5 services can be pre-defined. There are 2 pre-defined services, namely GOLD donation and Local Currency Donation. On section Services from the administration section you will find the list of services. Also here you can define new services. It\'s sufficient to complete a name and a price structure. The list of available services appears on the page of the organisation\'s presentation. We will discuss below about the price structure. There are 4 columns which define a service

* The name. You will write here the name of your service
* QTY, quantity. You will write here the quantity to be bought. If you leave the field empty, the buyer can specify the quantity he wants.
* Price. You will write here the price you want. If you leave the field empty, the buyer will specify a price.
* Currency, i.e. the currency in which the payment is made. It can be local currency from the country where the organisation was opened or GOLD.


Let\'s give some configuration examples:


* Fixed price, variable quantity: Fill in the field Name, leave the field QTY empty, on price you can write any decimal number minimum 0.01, on currency � GOLD or local currency. The buyer will be able to choose the quantity bought and will pay the fixed price multiplied by the chosen quantity. If at price you have 1, at QTY 10 and at currency GOLD, when pushing the button Buy from the first page, the client will pay 10 GOLD.

* Variable price, fixed quantity: Fill in the field Name, fill in the QTY field with a rounded off number, leave the field Price empty, at currency, select GOLD or local currency. The buyer will be able to choose the price and will pay the fixed price multiplied by the chosen quantity. If at price he chooses 1.25, QTY is fixed at 1 and at currency on GOLD, when pushing the button Buy from the first page, the client will pay 1.25 GOLD.

* Variable price, variable quantity: Fill in the field Name, leave the field QTY empty, leave the field Price empty, on currency � GOLD or local currency. The buyer will be able to choose the quantity and also the price. He will pay a sum equal to the chosen quantity multiplied by the price chosen by him. If at price he chooses 3, at QTY fills in with 5 and at currency GOLD, when pushing the button Buy from the first page, the client will pay 15 GOLD.


You can configure and collect money for absolutely any type of service. 2 aspects are very important


* The clients CANNOT buy services unless they are in a region where the organisation has a branch
* Following each service acquisition, a tax receipt is taken from the organisation stocks no matter what the configuration of the service is. If on stock there are no tax receipts, the sale CANNOT be made.


Administration of magazines

As mentioned above, organisations have an internal and an external magazine. The internal magazine is accessible only to members. In the administration section, you will find the page Magazine area. Here you will find the list of the internal and public articles. Also here you can write a new article. In articles BBCode can be used for formatting, as well as in the case of usual magazines. Only authorised persons can write articles. You can authorise a member to write articles from section Administration of Rights.

Financial administration

Unlike other types of companies, an organisation can also donate money to any player which is located in a region where the organisation has branches. Also an organisation can donate money to any other organisation from the country. This way, organisations can be used as services for money transfer. In section Financial Operations from the administration area you will find the form by which you can send money. You have to select the name of the player or the stock symbol of the company and to fill in the code for money transfer. The code is a password which you establish in section Settings.

Administration of Access Rights

As mentioned before, unlike a usual company, an organisation can be run by more members at the same time. Authorisation of members which have the right to run the company is made by the owner on page Administration of Access Rights from section Administration of the organisation. On this page you will find the list of all those who already have access rights and there is a form where you can add the authorised persons. The authorisation is made on sections. You can give a right to operate on certain sections to chosen members. Some could make financial transfers, some could write articles, some could deal with members, etc. to authorise a member to run the organisation, go to section Authorise, fill in the name of the member and check the sections where he has access.

In section Organisation Settings you can define aspects such as registration method, if the organisation accepts or not members and other details such as logo or name. in case you specify that the registrations are pre-approved, the players will become members of the organisation only when their request has been approved on section Members\' Administration / Registration applications.

Starting wars

The organisations are the only entities which are authorised to start wars between countries. For an organisation, starting a war between countries has only one purpose and that\'s the profit. To start a war, go to section Wars. You will find there the list of wars started in the past by the organisation as well as the form to start a new war. To start a war, the following conditions must be fulfilled:


* The attacked country should not be in alliance with the country where the organisation is located.
* The organisation should have enough money to organise the war fund (for details regarding the course of the wars between countries, go to chapter Slaves and Battles)
* The region from the attacked country should not already be in a war process.


Trade companies


Trade companies are a type of company which can purchase, stock and resell any type of product. They are the perfect instruments for import - export operations. Just like any other type of branch company, they have jobs and means of production. They sue as raw material paper and produce inventory notes. The mechanism is simple. For any purchase of selling of stocks, trade companies loose an inventory note from stock. The type or the quantity of transactioned products are not important. Without inventory notes on stock, trade companies CANNOT function.

Purchase of products

To purchase products, go to page Market and select the product you want. On purchase you will be asked for whom you would like to purchase. Select the trade company. The products will enter into the stock and will be visible on page Stocks from section Company Administration. Also there they can be put on sale. The products are divided in categories and selecting a certain category is very simple.

Resale of products

Once purchased, products can be stocked for an unlimited period of time, until they are resold. You can sell a product in 2 ways. On the local market of the country where the trade company is open or by a direct operation towards another trade company.

Sale on local market

Go to page Stocks from section Administration, select the product you want and change the selling price. Any product on stock with a price higher than 0 will immediately appear on market.

Exporting goods

Go to page Stocks from section Administration. Select the product you want. Click on the button Export under the product. You will be given a form where you have to write the stock symbol of the company towards which you want the sale to be done, the price (is expressed ONLY in GOLD), a short message for the one who will receive the products and the password of the account as a safety element. Automatically, in section Company Administration, heading Business Proposals, a message will appear with the products proposed for purchase and the purchase price. If the owner of the company agrees with the price, then he accepts the sale. Payment is made automatically, and the products immediately arrive in the stocks of that company. Remember that the company must also be a trade company. You cannot directly sell products towards other types of companies. Flat fee will be automatically withdrawn from the company\'s accounts. If the company DOES NOT have money to pay the flat fee towards the state, the transaction CANNOT be made.

Importing goods

On heading Business Proposals from section Trade Company Administration you can find all the proposals for selling merchandise made by other companies towards your company. The type of product and their price is shown. The price is always in gold. You can accept or can refuse these proposals. If you accept, money will go to the seller and the products will automatically enter into the company\'s stocks.
